Equity has a shape

One number hides which cards carry it. The runout explorer shows them.

6 minute read

Two hands can both have about 25% on the flop. One might win almost all of it on eight specific cards and nothing otherwise; the other might grind out a small edge on every runout. Same equity, completely different hands to play.

Computing every runout…

A flush draw against a set: 25.6% now, but each heart turn card is 77% and everything else is 16% or less.

Knowing the shape tells you what the turn will feel like before it comes, which cards should change your plan, and what an opponent's bet on a particular turn card actually means.

Quick check

In the scenario above, why is the 2♥ worth 0% when the other hearts are worth 77%?

Show answer

It completes your flush but pairs the board, giving the set a full house.
