Implied odds calculator

Pot odds compare the price with what is in the pot now. Implied odds add what you expect to win later when your draw arrives. This calculator solves for the future money a call needs, then checks it against your estimate — and keeps the two clearly apart.

The call

9 outs · 19.1%
$60

An estimate, not a fact: how much more the opponent will pay off, on average, when your draw arrives.

What the math says

Pot odds need
25.0%
you have 19.1%
Must win when you hit
$211.11
in total
Future winnings needed
$61.11
beyond the current pot
EV of calling
−$0.21
counting $60 implied

You need to win about $61.11 more when you hit; you expect only $60. Implied odds do not rescue this call.

The formula

A call breaks even when the money won on hits pays for the money lost on misses: equity × (pot + bet + future) = (1 − equity) × call. Solve for future and you have the extra you must extract on later streets, on average, every time you hit.

Nine outs on the turn facing $50 into $100: pot odds need 25%, you have 19.6%, and the shortfall works out to about $56 of future winnings. If the opponent will typically pay a $75 river bet when your flush comes in, the call is fine. If they will check and fold, it is not.

Why the estimate is the whole game

The pot-odds part is a fact. The future-winnings part is a belief about the opponent, the stacks, and how obvious your draw is when it hits. Flush cards are visible and get paid less; gutshot cards are hidden and get paid more. Deep stacks pay more than short ones. An opponent who never folds pays the most.

Reverse implied odds run the other way: hands that can hit and still lose. The runout explorer shows which of your outs those are. The implied odds module walks through both.
