What are the odds of being dealt ace-king?
Ace-king (suited or offsuit) is dealt 1.21% of the time — about 1 in 83 hands. Suited alone is 0.30%.
Any specific unpaired hand has 16 combinations: 4 suited (one per suit) and 12 offsuit (4 choices for the first card's suit × 3 for the second). That 4-to-12 split is why offsuit hands make up three quarters of every unpaired holding.
It also means an opponent is three times as likely to hold ace-king offsuit as ace-king suited — a fact that matters far more in range analysis than at the moment you look at your own cards.
